According to the Director of the Community-Based Psychiatric Care Research Center, the first virtual reality software with a positive psychotherapy approach has been developed in the country. Dr. Maryam Shaygan continued, "The design of this software is part of an approved project at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and is currently in the research phase, focusing on depressed patients with suicidal thoughts."

She further explained that virtual reality software, as a new, attractive, and cost-effective technology, features an interactive design. This means that the use of a graphical environment allows the individual not only to feel as if they are in a physical space but also creates conditions for interaction with the environment.

Dr. Maryam Shaygan emphasized that when using this method, the individual is placed in a virtual environment similar to the real world, and this technology can offer very suitable opportunities for achieving educational, research, and therapeutic goals for researchers and treatment teams.

Finally, she expressed hope that this new method will help make a significant contribution toward improving the conditions of depressed patients with suicidal thoughts.
