Dr. Maryam Shaygan, Director of the Community-Based Psychiatric Care Research Center, discussed the impact of being an only child on children's mental health during a radio program, "Zang Payam."

In her radio message, Dr. Shaygan referred to the results of a cohort study conducted in Norway, stating that children with more siblings tended to have better mental health. According to the findings of this study, the presence of pets did not have any significant effect on the mental health of only children.
