On the occasion of National Population Week, Dr. Maryam Shaygan, a faculty member of the Psychiatric Nursing Department and the president of the Community- Based Psychiatric Care Research Center, discussed the topic of "Only Child and Multiple Children from a Mental Health Perspective" on the live TV program "Stay Healthy" on Fars TV. The program aired on Wednesday, May 17, 2022, at 6:00 PM.
Dr. Shaygan began by outlining the current situation regarding childbearing in the country, expressing concern over the growing trend of having only one child in society. She then cited the latest global research findings, discussing the widespread issues associated with being an only child and its detrimental effects on various aspects of mental health. Additionally, she highlighted the numerous benefits of having multiple children for mental health at the individual, family, and societal levels. Finally, she provided strategies for addressing the trend of having only one child and promoting the benefits of multiple children.
